Experience and Education Education : Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; no experience required. Job Duties Performs surveys of laboratories and facilities (e.g., clinical and research lasers, RAM research labs, radiation use locations) to ensure adherence to safety regulations and procedures; operates portable radiation and contamination survey instruments and radiological counting instruments. Provides radiation and laser safety support to clinical services, including preparation for clinical radiopharmaceutical therapies, monitoring patients, supporting physicians and clinical staff during the use of lasers, and supporting research and clinical groups during procurement of laser items. Manages radiation dosimetry, including dosimeter issuance, delivery, and collection, and dosimetry report review. Conducts training and orientation sessions to minimize potential safety hazards involving lasers and radiation; assists in developing radiation, MR, and laser safety training. Prepares reports of findings from radiation and laser surveys, incorporates data from monitoring, distributes results to the Radiation/Laser Safety Officer, and recommends corrective actions; maintains required records and documentation. Investigates safety and environmental incidents involving radiation and lasers, identifies causes, and implements prevention measures; prepares reports on conditions and mitigates deficiencies. Primary staff member responsible for radioactive materials shipping, including DOT and IATA compliance; primary backup for radioactive ordering, receipt, waste shipping, and disposal programs. Assists in preparing for and responding to emergencies involving hazardous materials, radiation, and lasers; participates in emergency drills and may be on‑call for out‑of‑hours incidents. Performs other duties as assigned.
