Visiting Assistant Professor

Department : Decision & Information Science Salary : Competitive with market The Bauer Human-Centered AI Institute at the University of Houston invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor (non‑tenure‑track) position, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2026. This position is structured as a postdoctoral appointment with a primary focus on research, along with responsibilities supporting the institute’s teaching needs. This is a one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year. Position Overview We seek a candidate who can contribute to the teaching mission in areas such as business analytics, management information systems, operations management, or related fields. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses and support the continued growth of the Department of Decision and Information Sciences. Compensation and Teaching Load This position offers a salary of $70,000 per year. The expected teaching load is approximately 2.5 courses per year, typically consisting of two regular semester courses and one short‑session course. Qualifications Ph.D. in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Operations Management, or a closely related field (ABD candidates near completion will be considered) Demonstrated teaching effectiveness or strong potential for excellence in teaching Responsibilities Contribute to a high‑quality research environment Teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate courses Official transcripts are required for a faculty appointment and will be requested upon selection of the final candidate.
