Elementary Classroom Teacher

Elementary Classroom Teacher Lincoln County School District, Waynesburg Elementary School – Waynesburg, Kentucky Starting date: Immediately. Basic Function To establish a learning environment that meets the needs of each student at his/her own level and supports holistic development of intellectual, emotional, and psychological well‑being. Representative Duties Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated locations and times. Plan a program of study that addresses individual student needs, interests, and abilities. Create a conducive classroom environment appropriate to student maturity and interests. Prepare lessons and provide written evidence of preparation upon supervisor request. Encourage students to set and maintain classroom behavior standards. Guide learning toward curriculum goals, setting clear objectives for lessons, units and projects. Employ diverse instructional techniques and media, considering physical limitations and student capabilities. Implement the district’s philosophy of education through instruction and action. Assess student progress regularly and provide required progress reports. Take reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintain accurate records as required by law, district policy, and administration. Assist administration in implementing all student life and conduct policies, develop classroom rules, and maintain classroom order fairly. Provide availability to students and parents for education-related matters outside instructional hours when reasonably requested. Plan and supervise assignments for instructional aides and volunteers; evaluate job performance cooperatively with department heads. Maintain and improve professional competence. Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required. Maintain regular attendance. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of: Curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Record‑keeping techniques. Computer operation and data entry. Oral and written communication. Research methods and report writing. Local laws, rules, and regulations governing assigned activities. Program policies and objectives. Interpersonal skills with tact, patience, and courtesy. Technical aspects of the field of specialty. Ability to: Perform the outlined responsibilities. Understand and execute oral and written directions. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Establish cooperative relationships with colleagues. Maintain records and prepare reports. Prioritize and schedule work. Apply and explain policies, procedures, and regulations. Keep current knowledge of program rules and requirements. Make appropriate decisions within guidelines. Work independently with minimal direction. Meet schedules and timelines. Physical Demands Standing, sitting, walking, bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching. Use of speech, vision, and hearing to communicate. Use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation. Lift, carry, push, or pull light weights. Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in the field of assignment (minimum requirement). Licenses and Other Requirements Valid Kentucky Teaching Certification for area and grade level of assignment. Positive reference checks. Terms of Employment Salary: $43,270 to $70,489 per year. Salary and work year determined by the Board and reflected in district salary schedules and individual contracts. Evaluation Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
