Hybrid: Employees who are able to perform the essential functions of their jobs away from an Elevations location may do so with the expectation that they are onsite at least fifty percent of the time over a two-week pay period.
Summary/Objective:
The Consumer Loan Underwriter is responsible for providing prompt, accurate, and courteous service to all staff. Maintains a professional attitude and takes personal ownership of resolving problems and creating financial solutions. Responsible for creating consistency in lending decisions through coaching, reviewing loans, development/implementation of lending policies and procedures, and training as necessary to accomplish organizational lending goals. This position must demonstrate a strong commitment to increasing member value and achieving organizational goals through coaching co-workers, member education, service, and sales. Ensures credit process, policies, and activities fall within the parameters of Federal, State, and Elevations Credit Union’s policies and standards. Adheres to all applicable Federal and State laws and regulations governing the Credit Union.
Essential Functions include:
- Decisions loan approvals/denials according to agreed upon Service Level Agreements and in compliance with standards set by regulatory agencies, investors, and Credit Union policies and procedures. Monitors and responds to various incoming loan queues on a continuous and timely manner. Demonstrate prudent judgment and decision making with risk/reward balance for recommending and approving appropriate policy exceptions for Direct and Indirect Auto, Unsecured, Credit Card, Home Equity, and business loan products.
- Provides guidance and education to retail staff in area of consumer and small business credit. Assists co-workers with developing sound credit decisions based on policy and procedure, and offering financial solutions to the membership.
- Assists the management team in creating, supporting, and promoting Credit Union policies, procedures, objectives and programs

Required Skills, Education and Experience:
- Equivalent to a two-year college degree, completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of two years consumer loan experience
- Advanced knowledge of lending operations and processes required for credit card, auto, unsecured, and home equity products
- Knowledge of business loan products
- In-depth income documentation, income analysis, and appraisal knowledge
- Has established credit policy exception lending authority
- Working knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to consumer lending practices
- Demonstrated ability to maintain excellent production quality
- Basic MS Office skills
Preferred Skills, Education and Experience:
- Certified Financial Counselor designation
Work Environment:
Elevations uses multi-factor authentication to keep our data safe. As such, a personal smartphone is a requirement for employment with us. This job operates in an office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment.

Compensation:
The person hired into this position will likely earn between $28.59 and $35.73 hourly wage, plus annual bonus.
Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted hiring range based on factors such as relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, licensure requirements and/or skill level, and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Anticipated Application Window:
