Emergency Medical Technician (Paramedic/Motor Vehicle Operator)

Overview This position is located in the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Department of Emergency Medicine, Fort Gordon, Georgia. Emergency Medical Technician (Paramedic/Motor Vehicle Operator) Salary Range: $61,722 - $91,815 per year Ft Gordon is adjacent to Augusta, GA famous for its major attraction, The Masters Golf Tournament. Ft Gordon has a moderate year-round climate and offers close proximity to metropolitan areas, beaches along the Atlantic Ocean and the Appalachian Mountains. Responsibilities Responds to the site of accidents or other emergencies involving injury, illness, or potential environmental risks. Assesses condition of patient(s) and selects from a variety of protocols one or several that are deemed appropriate under the given circumstances and based on the paramedics’ evaluation. Triages patients to determine which patients are treated and transported first and makes notifications to inform the appropriate medical facility ER of a possible Mass Casualty Incident (MCI). Recognizes, stabilizes, and treats a wide variety of medical emergencies, (i.e., heart attacks, state of hydration, strokes, environmental [heat exhaustion, heat stroke, etc.], burns [thermal, radiation, and electrical], suicidal patients, etc.) Maintains Emergency Vehicles (EV) readiness and inspects vehicles for repairs. Operates EV safely and adheres to traffic ordinances and regulations pertaining to the operation of the EV. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) responding to accidents or emergencies involving injuries and/or illnesses; (2) operating a patient transport vehicle; (3) AND providing advanced life support to patients.
