Position Description

We are seeking experienced Equipment Operators who will be responsible for manning equipment in an effective and safe way. This equipment can include non CDL required trucks, excavators, bulldozers, graders, compactors, front-end loaders, hand tools, lawn mowers and trimmers. This job is critical to the functioning of building sites and more. Applicants must be dependable, honest, hardworking, have an excellent work ethic and a desire to learn/grow.

Equipment Operator responsibilities include:

• Attendance during regularly scheduled work days
• Operate equipment as directed by the superintendent, to include basic GPS
• Operate, inspect, and perform basic maintenance of equipment per the manufacturer's recommendations - requires use of phone or iPad to do inspections via Aardvark
• Report any mechanical difficulty or damage to the superintendent immediately
• Work in coordination with the entire crew
• Ensure safety of crew while operating any equipment by following site safety rules
• Report usage in a timely and accurate manner as required by management
• Maintain machine cleanliness - to include cab, windows, and tracks
• Proficient at Skilled Laborer duties
• Ability to complete computer-based training (CBT) modules as part of ongoing job requirements
• Other duties as required and directed.

Position Requirements

• Dependable daily transportation to job sites within a 50-mile radius of Williamsburg, VA
• Knowledge of basic safety requirements
• Good communication skills - ability to communicate verbally and non-verbally
• Ability to solve basic problems associated with equipment operation
• Must have task organizational skills
• Ability to operate equipment in an efficient manner
• Knowledge of operation of equipment
• Knowledge of the basic Miss Utility marking and excavation requirements
• Knowledgeable in GPS assisted grading systems
• Ability to shoot grades and read stakes
• Knowledge in basic math
• Ability to distinguish suitable fill material from unsuitable material
• Knowledge in rigging and material handling protocols
• Basic knowledge of plan reading
• Able to work with others
• Knowledgeable in basic construction related math and measuring
• Knowledge in basic hand and power tool use
• Must practice situational awareness skills
• Must be dependable
• Regularly required to stand, sit, and walk
• Regularly required to use arms, hands and fingers, to reach, handle and/or feel
• Regularly required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs
• Ability to sit or stand in a stationary position for up to 8 hours per day, including while using a computer or performing administrative or training-related tasks
• Must be physically flexible
• Specific vision abilities required by this position include peripheral vision and depth perception
• Regularly required to work under stressful conditions, all types of outdoor weather, and varying terrain
• Applicant must pass a pre-employment drug screen and have a clean driving record.
