Food Service Specialist - IDEA Palmview (Immediate Opening)

Mission The mission of the CNP Food Service Specialist (FSS) is to assist with the operation of a food preparation and service establishment. The FSS is tasked with serving customers, stocking supplies, operating equipment, maintaining clean areas, and operating point of sales (POS). The FSS works under the supervision of the Cafeteria Manager and is responsible for serving large groups of people such as students. Other responsibilities include cutting and chopping fruits and vegetables, following recipes, adhering to established kitchen processes, monitoring students during meal periods, encouraging them to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, and performing kitchen cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, washing dishes, and disposing of trash. Compensation and Benefits Hourly compensation ranges from $13.00 for 0 years of experience to $14.95. Eligible for a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment. Comprehensive benefits plan covering the majority of the employee premium for the base medical plan and subsidizing the majority of costs for a spouse/domestic partner and children. Location & Travel Full‑time, on‑site position. No travel required. Essential Duties – Accountabilities Assist in the food preparation, food safety and food quality assurance for students. Provide customer service and interact with staff, students and family on a daily basis. Operate food service equipment and maintain food service spaces and equipment; notify manager of equipment malfunction. Assist in cafeteria cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, washing dishes, disposing of trash, and moving cafeteria tables and mobile vending stations. Load and unload food and non‑food products on a weekly basis. Additional Duties and Responsibilities Encourage students to participate in the meal program, especially when they are seen not eating. Ensure counts of student meals are accurate and performed as the meal is delivered. Ensure reimbursable meals are offered to students. Ensure meals are ready per campus meal schedules for breakfast, lunch, snack, and supper. Follow all recipes and report errors to the Cafeteria Manager. Follow all established processes and procedures; discuss with the Cafeteria Manager situations where they cannot be fully followed. Required Experience At least 1 year of experience handling physical activity for multiple hours on feet. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds solo and up to 50 pounds with a partner, bend, pull, push, twist, stand, and walk during a shift. Ability to obtain a locally‑recognized manager food safety certification. Preferred Experience N/A Physical Requirements Intermittent standing, walking, pushing, and pulling. Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, and climbing (ladder). Ability to withstand moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures and move and handle mixed weights including cafeteria tables, carts, and trash cans/bags.
