Certified Phlebotomist

Job Title : Certified Phlebotomist Job Type : Full Time Location : Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, Houston, TX Schedule : Various shifts may be available, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Duties Verify patient identity before collecting specimens. Perform blood draws for inpatient and outpatient patients. Collect, label, and process specimens accurately. Assist with urine collections, blood cultures, and basic specimen processing. Follow laboratory procedures, safety rules, and infection‑control standards. Maintain patient privacy and provide professional customer service. Communicate clearly with patients, nurses, and laboratory staff. Qualifications Current Phlebotomy Certification. At least 2 years of phlebotomy experience preferred. Current BLS certification preferred or ability to obtain. Experience with difficult blood draws is a plus. Must be able to pass VA background screening and complete required VA onboarding/training.
