About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists to join Perpetual Wealth Management's Investment Research team as Manager, Capital Markets Research & Asset Allocation. Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, this role is responsible for leading, managing and delivering PWM's asset allocation framework and delivering capital markets research and asset allocation insights that directly inform portfolio construction, investment strategy, and portfolio positioning. You'll undertake quantitative research on macroeconomic trends, capital market assumptions, and asset class behaviour, as well as apply advanced financial modelling to provide practical, investment-ready guidance for portfolio managers, advisers, and senior stakeholders.

What You'll Do:

Capital Markets Research and Market Analysis

• Lead the development and ongoing enhancement of capital markets assumptions, including asset class forecasts, risk premia and correlations, and scenario analysis across asset classes.
• Conduct and provide timely macroeconomic and cross asset market analysis to identify key drivers of expected returns and risks, and relative valuations.
• Review external research and advice and maintain awareness of relevant academic and industry developments.

Strategic and Dynamic Asset Allocation Support

• Lead asset allocation research, including optimisations and scenario analysis.
• Partner with portfolio construction and multi-asset team to test portfolio outcomes.
• Assess the asset allocation impact of new opportunities, product changes, manager changes, or structural shifts in markets.

Portfolio Construction and Risk Collaboration

• Collaborate with investment risk stakeholders to ensure research is embedded in portfolio risk frameworks and outcomes are understood and communicated.
• Support the design and enhancement of model portfolios and investment solutions by providing research-backed asset allocation guidance.
• Identify portfolio vulnerabilities and concentrations; recommend mitigants informed by scenario analysis and market regimes and market structure (capital market research).

Governance, Controls and Quality Assurance

• Ensure research outputs meet internal standards for methodology, documentation, controls and compliance (especially where they inform client outcomes).
• Maintain strong version control and decision logs for CMAs, asset allocation recommendations, and major view changes.
• Support audit/regulatory readiness by ensuring processes are transparent and defensible.

Stakeholder Management and Influence

• Build trusted relationships across PWM to ensure research insights are understood and adopted.
• Provide subject matter expertise to support adviser queries and client-facing narratives, ensuring consistency with investment views and governance.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

• Enjoys spending their time building and managing complex financial models, combining quantitative analysis and qualitative judgement with strong Excel skills (or coding skills).
• 7 - 12+ years of experience in asset allocation and/or portfolio management, with extensive experience in asset allocation and multi-asset class investing, preferably within an institutional and/or wealth management setting.
• An appropriate undergraduate degree (commerce, economics, business, finance or other technical area of study e.g. science) and/or relevant investment post-graduate qualifications (e.g. CFA, CAIA, MBA, MAppFin).
• RG146 accreditation is preferable.
• Deep understanding of macroeconomics, financial markets, and asset class behaviour across market cycles.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex research into practical, client-relevant investment insights.
• Advanced analytical capability,
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and influence senior decision-makers.
• Intellectual curiosity, sound judgement and the maturity to represent Perpetual with confidence.
