UCT is looking for a talented CNC Technician IV to join our team in Austin, TX.
Position Summary
The CNC Technician IV is a highly skilled manufacturing professional responsible for the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and optimization of CNC machining equipment used to produce precision components for semiconductor manufacturing systems. This role serves as a technical resource on the production floor, ensuring parts meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and production schedules while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate possesses advanced CNC machining experience, strong blueprint-reading skills, and expertise in machine setup, tooling selection, process troubleshooting, and precision inspection techniques.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC mills, routers, lathes, and other automated machining equipment.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and GD&T requirements.
- Select, install, and adjust tooling, fixtures, and machine offsets to achieve required tolerances.
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring instruments.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and equipment issues to minimize downtime and improve productivity.
- Perform machine changeovers and setup verification activities.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency standards.
- Execute preventative maintenance activities and routine machine care.
- Maintain accurate production, inspection, and maintenance records.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to improve machining processes, cycle times, yields, and quality.
- Train and mentor junior CNC Technicians and Operators.
- Ensure compliance with safety requirements, operating procedures, and quality management systems.
- Support 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of CNC machining processes and manufacturing principles.
- Strong experience operating CNC milling, routing, or turning equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and engineering specifications.
- Advanced understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-up principles.
- Proficiency using precision measuring equipment including:
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Height gauges
- Bore gauges
- Dial indicators
- Ability to identify root causes of machining defects and implement corrective actions.
- Working knowledge of cutting tools, tool wear analysis, feeds, speeds, and machining parameters.
- Experience with machine setup, offsets, tool changes, and fixture alignment.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP manufacturing systems.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel, plastics, and semiconductor industry materials.
- Experience with Haas, Fanuc, Siemens, or similar CNC control systems.
- Exposure to CNC programming and editing G-code.
- Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical certification in CNC Machining, Manufacturing Technology, Precision Machining, or related field preferred.
- Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience
- 5+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience performing advanced machine setups and process troubleshooting.
- Semiconductor, aerospace, medical device, or high-precision manufacturing experience preferred.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and machine shop environment.
- Exposure to moving mechanical equipment, cutting tools, lubricants, and industrial machinery.
- Appropriate PPE required at all times.
