This individual will primarily be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and facility hardware equipment. This position interfaces with other technical groups, including engineers and technicians, on a regular basis, and reports to the PTS Manager. The role is based at our SSDF facility, has multiple job openings, and may be filled at multiple levels.KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESRead and accurately interpret engineering models, blueprints, wiring diagrams, assembly prints, and schematicsAble to mentor less experienced techniciansOperate machines and/or use hand tools and power toolsSetup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and optical measuring instrumentsStage, assemble, install, and inspect spacecraft mechanical, electrical, and fluid components by interpreting and utilizing engineering drawings, provided specifications, written assembly instructions, and test proceduresOperate material/hardware handling equipment including, but not limited to, forklifts, overhead cranes, and other lifting equipmentPerform assembly and checkouts of various ground support equipment and facility equipment related to spacesuit operationsCollaborate with engineers and/or teams of diverse skills and backgrounds to develop and document activities such as assembly work instructions and/or hardware processing proceduresPerform routine maintenance functions such as daily clean-up of work areas to reduce FOD and maintain clean room and safety guidelinesConsistently apply written, verbal, listening, and visual media and skills as appropriate to ensure accurate communicationProactively identify issues and problems and make recommendationsConsistently take ownership of and responsibility for personal and team performance to promote continuous improvementPerform additional job duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
