Job Summary The Fleet Manager is responsible for maintaining the entire plant fleet in "like new" condition and ensuring the timely movement of all product. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Maintain fleet based on regularly scheduled preventative maintenance and preserve an accurate inventory. Schedule and delegate tasks to fleet mechanics. Supervise all jobs performed on the fleet. Assist in the interviewing and training of new employees. Communicate with the Office Manager, Plant Manager, Route Supervisor, and General Manager to ensure fleet efficiency. Possibly oversee overall logistics of the facility. Ensure proper purchasing and expenditures according to budget. Maintain cleanliness of the fleet’s interior and exterior. Maintain DOT record‑keeping compliance and monitor tachograph cards to ensure compliance with all Company, federal, state, and local regulations. Schedule outside haulers for pickup and delivery of product; verify finished product weights to ensure accurate billing and that profit margins are met. Perform all other duties as assigned. Management retains the right to assign or re‑assign duties and responsibilities at any time. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a mechanic. Minimum 1–2+ years of supervisory experience, preferably in a plant or industrial setting. Preferred Qualifications Advanced training and/or experience as a fleet mechanic preferred. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Excellent problem‑solving and organizational skills. Good mechanical and administrative skills. Ability to lead; able to give and receive direction. Ability to deal with minor problems involving equipment or various situations.
