Forklift Operator

Job Summary: Responsible for all coordinating, purchasing, and verification of steel required for production. Required Education And Experience Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university required and four to ten years related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience Must have a good knowledge of the English language Must have an overall knowledge of the auto industry Must have an in depth knowledge of the steel industry, as well as a metallurgical knowledge of steel Excellent communication, teamwork, organization, and time management skills Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and inventory management system (CMS) Must be able to multi-task, research, self-motivate, analyse data, work independently, negotiate and persuade, and adapt to an ever-changing work environment Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements Knowledge of ISO 9001/IATF 16949 Essential Functions Perform plant walk around regularly to review receipts and schedules, check inventories, and review received material Communicate with suppliers to coordinate, negotiate, purchase, and verify steel required for production Troubleshoot with accounting on payables issues Communicate with receiving to verify inbound steel schedule Assist with inventory counts in steel area, including weld wire, stamping lubricants, and DS tubes Organize all steel shippers, certifications, NAFTAs, and certificate of origins for material that needs to be shipped to our overseas tool shops and sister plants Check incoming material certifications and verify that all incoming material meets standards Run plant inventory and post to Martinrea Central Send flat steel samples to independent labs for testing and work with corporate metallurgy Any other duties or responsibilities assigned by the Materials Manager or the Materials Supervisor Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook Language Skills Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
