Registered Nurse (RN) – LTAC Nights Baylor Scott & White Continuing Care Hospital (CCH), Temple, TX Schedule: Full‑Time | Nights (3 12‑hour shifts) | Department: Long‑Term Acute Care (LTAC) / ICU Patient Populations & Services Our LTAC unit cares for patients with complex medical needs, including: Ventilator weaning Pulmonary and cardiopulmonary diseases Complex wound care Neuromuscular disorders Gastrointestinal diseases Postoperative complications Kidney disease, including dialysis Post‑trauma recovery Average patient length of stay: 25 days Unit size: 25 beds Job Summary As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies. Essential Functions of the Role Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes. Build relationships, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism in therapeutic connections with patients and families. Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues. Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members. Empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly. Collaborate with colleagues and community to create a care plan. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly. Use different strategies for problem‑solving with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery. Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, and commit to growth. Contribute to peers’ development and demonstrate community service commitment. What We’re Looking For Active RN license (Texas or compact state) Passion for caring for medically complex patients Desire to grow clinically in a collaborative, close‑knit environment ICU, LTAC, or acute care experience preferred Key Success Factors A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures. Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area. Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects. Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights. Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing. Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties. Excellent problem‑solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking. Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
