Orthopedic Technologist I - Ortho - Full-Time

Job Summary The Orthopedic Technologist I is a training position where the incumbent functions under the direct supervision of a physician or other designated staff to learn the appropriate orthopedic principals and procedures relating to application and removal of cast to upper and lower extremities, brace fitting and application, wound management and simple debridement, suture and staple removal, and application of a variety of removable orthopedic (soft goods) splints, slings, etc. Upon completion of training and demonstrating required competencies, incumbent is eligible for promotion to Orthopedic Technologist. Responsibilities Apply and remove casts to upper and lower extremities. Fit and apply orthopedic braces. Perform wound management, including simple debridement, dressing changes, and wound care. Remove sutures and staples. Apply removable orthopedic splints and slings. Take vital signs (TPR, BP) and obtain patient history. Transport patients and apply sterile techniques in all activities. Stock and clean exam rooms, clinical areas, and instruments following practice, manufacturer, and OSHA protocols. Prepare lab requisitions and culture samples. Education and Experience Required: High school level of knowledge, with familiarity with anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, patient care processes. Preferred: At least one‑year experience in a patient care role such as Patient Care Tech, Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant or the like.
