Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Registered NurseAbout the unitThis is a 30 bed Level 3 neonatal critical care unit. NICU has a very team like atmosphere. A Neonatologist and NNP are on the unit 24 hours a day. Nursing participates in many nursing councils across the hospital. NICU nurses are NRP certified and attend all high-risk deliveries in labor and delivery. NICU nurses along with a multidisciplinary team participate in transporting infants from neighboring hospitals to Beaumont Dearborn's NICU.About Dearborn HospitalRecognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the "Top 10 Hospitals" in Michigan, this major teaching and research hospital has been advancing care since 1953. It is a Level II trauma center and has been recognized for clinical excellence and innovation in the fields of orthopedics, neurosciences, women's health, heart & vascular, and cancer care.Scope of workThe RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.QualificationsAssociates or Diploma in Nursing RequiredBachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years if new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year experienceGraduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examinationMI Registered Nurse (RN) required or if new grad within 60 days of hireAHA, ARC, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire/transferNRP within 6 months of hire/transferSpecialty Certification highly recommended within 2 yearsPrefer RN experience, ideally in NICU.
