Casa Felix is a new modern Mexican restaurant opening in Chelsea, NYC — a warm, high-energy restaurant and bar inspired by Mexico City, tequila & mezcal culture, and the spirit of celebration.

We are looking for hardworking, reliable, and detail-oriented Dishwashers / Porters to support our kitchen and restaurant operations by maintaining cleanliness, organization, sanitation, and smooth service flow.

The Dishwasher / Porter plays an essential role in keeping Casa Felix clean, organized, safe, and ready for service.

This position is responsible for washing dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, kitchen tools, and equipment, while also supporting porter duties such as cleaning kitchen areas, removing trash, maintaining floors, organizing storage areas, and assisting with general restaurant cleanliness.

This role is ideal for someone who is dependable, fast, organized, and comfortable working in a busy NYC restaurant environment.

• Wash, rinse, sanitize, and properly store dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, trays, smallwares, and kitchen tools.
• Operate the dish machine safely and correctly.
• Maintain a steady flow of clean dishes, plates, glassware, and utensils during service.
• Ensure cooks, prep cooks, bartenders, servers, and runners have the clean equipment and serviceware they need.
• Scrub pots, pans, sheet trays, cutting boards, and kitchen equipment as needed.
• Keep the dish area clean, organized, stocked, and running efficiently.
• Communicate shortages, broken items, or equipment issues to kitchen leadership or management.

• Maintain clean floors, walls, mats, drains, shelves, storage areas, kitchen equipment, and service areas.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, and detail clean kitchen, dish, prep, storage, and back-of-house areas.
• Remove trash, recycling, cardboard, food waste, and bottles throughout the shift.
• Break down boxes and keep garbage areas clean and organized.
• Clean and sanitize trash cans, mop sinks, floor drains, and cleaning tools.
• Assist with restroom checks, dining room support, and guest-facing cleaning when needed.
• Support deep cleaning projects as assigned by chefs or managers.

• Follow all NYC Department of Health, sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety standards.
• Maintain proper chemical use, sanitizer levels, dish machine temperatures, and cleaning procedures.
• Keep dishwashing and cleaning supplies properly stored and labeled.
• Ensure clean items are stored safely and dirty items are handled properly.
• Prevent cross-contamination by following proper cleaning and storage procedures.
• Maintain clean handwashing areas, prep areas, and back-of-house workspaces.
• Report sanitation concerns, pest concerns, spills, leaks, or safety hazards immediately.

• Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing deliveries when needed.
• Help keep walk-ins, dry storage, liquor storage, and supply areas organized.
• Restock paper goods, cleaning supplies, dish chemicals, and kitchen supplies as directed.
• Support opening, running, and closing cleaning duties.
• Assist cooks, prep cooks, barbacks, bussers, and managers with operational needs when appropriate.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and professional restaurant environment before, during, and after service.

• Use dish machines, sinks, sprayers, cleaning equipment, and chemicals safely and properly.
• Report equipment issues, broken glassware, damaged smallwares, clogged drains, leaks, or maintenance concerns immediately.
• Keep floor mats, mop buckets, brooms, squeegees, and cleaning tools organized and clean.
• Help protect restaurant equipment by using proper cleaning and handling procedures.
• Follow all safety guidelines when lifting, carrying, cleaning, and moving items.

• Work closely with chefs, sous chefs, line cooks, prep cooks, bartenders, barbacks, bussers, runners, servers, and managers.
• Communicate clearly about clean dish needs, trash removal, spills, supply shortages, or service needs.
• Support the team during busy periods with urgency and professionalism.
• Follow direction from kitchen leadership and management.
• Maintain a positive, respectful, team-first attitude.
• Take pride in supporting both the guest experience and the back-of-house team.

• Previous dishwasher, porter, steward, prep support, or restaurant cleaning experience preferred but not required.
• Experience in a high-volume NYC restaurant, hotel, bar, or hospitality environment is a plus.
• Strong work ethic and ability to move quickly with urgency.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and safety.
• Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team.
• Comfortable washing dishes, cleaning floors, removing trash, lifting items, and working in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be available for night shifts starting at 3:00 PM daily .
• Must be available for weekend brunch shifts starting at 10:00 AM .
• Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and peak business periods.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and work near heat, water, and cleaning chemicals for long periods.
• Must be reliable, punctual, professional, respectful, and team-oriented.

• Experience operating a commercial dish machine.
• Familiarity with NYC Department of Health sanitation standards.
• Experience with deep cleaning, porter duties, trash removal, and restaurant maintenance support.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
• NYC restaurant opening experience is a plus.
