Back-End Engineer

Our client, a growing venture-backed Healthcare startup, is hiring a Backend Engineer to join their team in New York. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing and building the systems that empower healthcare organizations to deliver meaningful health insights while helping strengthen their services to patients. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and cloud infrastructure. Build and deliver features end-to-end across the platform. Architect secure, reliable and resilient systems for healthcare-focused applications. Improve performance, scalability and system reliability to ensure seamless user experiences. Develop and enhance observability, monitoring and operational tooling. Work closely with product and engineering teams to solve complex technical problems. Contribute to technical strategy, system architecture and engineering best practices. Help shape the evolution of a platform focused on preventive health and human optimization. Skillset At least 5 years of experience building backend systems using modern programming languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Rust or Go. Proven experience designing and operating scalable, distributed systems. Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and contemporary backend architecture patterns. Product-minded, with a focus on solving problems and delivering meaningful user value. High attention to detail across system design, architecture and implementation quality. Passion for building robust, secure and maintainable software systems. Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure. Strong expertise in PostgreSQL. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tooling is a plus. Interest in healthcare technology, preventive medicine or personal health optimization.
