RN - Correctional Health Profession: RN Specialty: Registered Nurse Duration: 6 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: One (1) year of professional nursing experience preferred License: Must possess current licensure in the state of employment Certifications: A valid driver\'s license required Must-Have: Graduate from an accredited college, university, or nursing program with a degree/diploma in nursing Description:The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care.This includes executing orders from Licensed Independent Providers and administering medications.The RN also assists Licensed Independent Providers in examinations and treatment of patients.Nursing and supervisory techniques are applied in the care and treatment of patients.All technical and clinical procedures performed are within the scope of the RN\'s education and licensure.The RN attends sick calls with the physician to evaluate patients and prepares examining rooms.Medication dispensing and documentation are conducted in accordance with policies and procedures.The RN communicates with Licensed Independent Providers regarding medications, treatment orders, and emergencies.Assessment of new patients with illnesses or injuries is performed, along with referrals to emergency care when necessary.Emergency procedures are carried out as required, and Licensed Independent Providers are notified for further treatment orders.Coordination of professional medical services provided by contract personnel is also part of the job. Responsibilities include monitoring patient hospitalizations for early releases when appropriate.The RN provides guidance and supervision to licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.A good working relationship with facility staff, nursing staff, and outside provider agencies is maintained.Established corporate and facility policies are utilized in decision-making.The RN regularly evaluates the provision of medical services to avoid inappropriate use.Absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records must be maintained.Assistance is provided to review medical files and ensure services are properly documented.Monitoring potential catastrophic illnesses and auditing pharmacy use for adherence to formulary are also required.The RN observes and records patient behavior.Inspection of the medical unit for potential contraband is essential.Health counseling and education are provided on an individual or group basis as needed.The RN assists in preparing and maintaining reports, logs, and operational records accurately.Reading, analyzing, comprehending, and interpreting medical and technical procedures is necessary.Response to lawsuits and attendance at court hearings may be required.Facilitating accreditation of the medical program by providing appropriate medical services is part of the role.Safety and accident reports need to be prepared as required by policies and procedures.Appropriate actions must be taken in cases of serious incidents and emergencies. #J-18808-Ljbffr Cynet HealthStaff
