Job Description

This Manufacturing Engineer role focuses on CNC programming, process improvement, and root cause analysis to support a growing manufacturing operation. You will develop and optimize machining processes for mills and mill-turn machines, collaborate closely with setup personnel, and drive continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and tooling performance. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced CNC equipment and software while contributing directly to a culture of growth and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for milling and mill-turn machines to ensure efficient and accurate production of parts.
• Own root cause analysis for part-related issues, identify underlying problems, and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve quality.
• Collaborate with setup personnel to ensure programs, tooling, and fixtures are correctly implemented on the shop floor.
• Select, specify, and optimize tooling for mills and lathes to improve tool life, cycle times, and part quality.
• Support quoting activities by reviewing prints, processes, and machining requirements to provide accurate and competitive estimates.
• Troubleshoot issues on mills and lathes, including programming, tooling, and process problems, to minimize downtime and scrap.
• Apply manufacturing engineering principles to improve existing processes and develop new processes for machining operations.
• Use lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies to reduce waste, improve throughput, and enhance overall process efficiency.
• Collaborate with quality personnel to address quality concerns, perform root cause investigations, and support corrective action implementation.
• Utilize CAD and CAM tools, including Mastercam and AutoCAD, to design and refine machining processes, tooling, and fixtures.
• Participate in process engineering activities, including documentation of standard work, process flows, and manufacturing instructions.
• Contribute to a culture of growth and improvement by sharing best practices and supporting cross-functional collaboration.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in CNC programming for milling and mill-turn machines.
• Hands-on experience working with mills and lathes, including troubleshooting equipment and process issues.
• Strong experience in manufacturing engineering with a focus on machining processes.
• Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis for part and quality issues.
• Experience with Mastercam for programming and process development.
• Knowledge of tooling selection, setup, and optimization for CNC machining.
• Experience in process improvement and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and their application on the shop floor.
• Ability to support quoting activities by understanding machining processes, cycle times, and resource requirements.
• Experience with process engineering and manufacturing process development.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD for supporting manufacturing and process design.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for mills and lathes, including programming, tooling, and process-related issues.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Bellwood, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $115000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
