Key facts Location: West Liberty, West Virginia Engagement: Full-time What you’ll do Develop and deliver engaging lectures and laboratory sessions in various biology courses, ensuring alignment with the university’s academic standards and learning objectives. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students, providing guidance on academic and career pathways, as well as research opportunities. Conduct original research in the field of biology, aiming to publish findings in reputable scientific journals and present at academic conferences. Collaborate with colleagues within the department and across disciplines to enhance interdisciplinary learning and research initiatives. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the biology curriculum and program offerings. Advise students on course selection, academic performance, and career development, fostering a supportive educational environment. Engage in community outreach and service activities that promote the importance of biological sciences and the university’s mission. Stay current with advancements in biological research and education, integrating new findings into the curriculum and teaching methodologies. Assist in the development of grant proposals to secure funding for research projects and departmental initiatives. Participate in faculty governance and contribute to university committees, helping to shape policies and practices that enhance the academic experience. Evaluate student performance through assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their academic growth. Requirements A Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related field is required, with a strong emphasis on research and teaching experience. Proven track record of effective teaching at the undergraduate level, with the ability to engage and inspire students. Demonstrated research experience in biology, with a record of publications in peer-reviewed journals. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible manner. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for a diverse student body. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students in a collegial academic setting. Experience with curriculum development and assessment practices in higher education. Nice to have Familiarity with modern teaching technologies and online learning platforms to enhance student engagement. Experience in securing research funding through grants and proposals.
