Job Description

The janitorial worker keeps the facility clean, orderly, and safe by performing routine cleaning, restroom maintenance, trash removal, and basic event setup. This role supports daily operations by ensuring all areas of the building remain sanitary, presentable, and ready for use.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect floors and surfaces throughout the facility to maintain a clean and orderly environment.

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and fixtures, ensuring they are consistently hygienic and presentable.

• Restock restroom supplies such as soap, paper products, and other consumables to ensure availability at all times.

• Empty waste bins across the facility, replace liners, and ensure proper disposal of trash and recyclables in designated areas.

• Monitor the facility for safety hazards, spills, or damaged equipment, and take appropriate action or report issues to maintain a safe environment.

• Track inventory of cleaning materials and supplies, and request replenishment when stock levels are low.

• Assist with event setup by arranging furniture, preparing rooms, and resetting spaces after events or meetings.

• Follow established cleaning procedures and guidelines to meet facility standards and support a consistent level of cleanliness.

Essential Skills

• Previous janitorial or cleaning experience in a facility setting.

• Experience cleaning restrooms, including sanitizing fixtures and maintaining hygiene standards.

• Ability to perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and disinfecting surfaces.

• Attention to detail to ensure all areas are thoroughly cleaned and maintained.

• Ability to identify safety hazards, spills, or damaged equipment and respond appropriately.

• Basic ability to track and manage cleaning supply inventory.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Nice to have: Janitorial experience in a warehouse or production facility.

• Comfort working in a facility environment with varied spaces and foot traffic.

• Ability to assist with event setup and room preparation as needed.

Work Environment

This position is based in a facility environment that includes restrooms, common areas, and event spaces. Work is performed on 1st shift with flexible hours, typically between 6:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., or 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The role involves regular standing, walking, and performing physical cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and lifting light to moderate loads. The environment may include warehouse or production areas if needed, and work is carried out using standard janitorial tools, cleaning agents, and equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
