The Team Leader is responsible for leading and managing a team of field technicians to ensure the successful execution of construction materials testing services. This role oversees daily operations, including scheduling, staffing, training, and quality control, while supporting project delivery and financial performance. The Team Leader serves as the primary leader for field staff, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values.ResponsibilitiesLeads and supervises a team of construction materials testing techniciansManages day-to-day field operations, including scheduling and resource allocationEnsures projects are staffed with properly trained and qualified techniciansPromotes and enforces safety policies and proper use of PPEManages field equipment calibration, maintenance, and inventoryCommunicates daily with technicians, project managers, and contractorsSupports recruiting and staffing to maintain appropriate team levelsReviews field reports and ensures quality, accuracy, and timelinessPerforms field testing, observation, and inspection as neededSupports Project Managers and Department leadership with project executionParticipates in project meetings and client interactionsSupports business development and client relationship activitiesMay manage construction materials testing projectsPerforms other leadership, operational, and technical duties as assignedCareer DevelopmentAs your experience grows, ECS will:Support you in further enhancing your professional skills as a leader.Encourage continued participation in internal and external training programs and certification opportunities provided by organizations such as ACI, ASNT, AWS, ICC, NICET, NRCA, RCI, various State DOTs, WACEL, and others, as appropriate.QualificationsRequired Qualifications4 years of related experienceHigh school diploma or GED requiredMaintain basic certifications and any advanced certifications necessary for the work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification PolicyIf driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is requiredStrong professional communication skills (verbal and written)Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-orientedStrong understanding of construction materials testing principles and standardsAbility to evaluate test results for specification complianceStrong organizational and operational management skillsAbility to lead teams and manage multiple prioritiesProficiency with electronic devices and MS OfficeKnowledge of company systems, procedures, and workflowsAbility to coordinate field activities and staffing effectivelyMust be able to occasionally lift a minimum of 85 poundsKnowledge of ECS systems and procedures is a plusAbout UsECS Group of Companies (ECS) was founded in 1988 with the goal to raise the standards of professional engineering consulting.
