Maintenance Mechanic

The Maintenance Mechanic repairs and maintains a wide range of machinery and mechanical equipment, including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and production machines. This role ensures equipment operates safely and efficiently by performing mechanical, electrical, and preventive maintenance tasks in a food production environment.

Responsibilities

• Dismantle machinery and mechanical devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
• Examine the form and texture of parts to detect imperfections and wear.
• Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Repair or replace defective parts to restore equipment to proper operating condition.
• Install special functional and structural parts in machinery and devices.
• Lubricate and clean parts, equipment, and machinery to support reliable operation.
• Test and adjust equipment to meet performance specifications and production requirements.
• Set up and operate lathes, drill presses, grinders, saws, and other metalworking tools to fabricate and repair parts.
• Sharpen and reshape tools as necessary to maintain effectiveness and precision.
• Initiate purchase orders for parts, tools, and machines needed for maintenance and repair activities.
• Repair electrical equipment as needed to support continuous operation.
• Follow plant food safety policies and industry best practices in all maintenance activities.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in production maintenance.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and bagging machines.
• Ability to operate a variety of hand tools, including welding machines, cutting torches, and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Mechanical repair skills, including dismantling, inspecting, and reassembling machinery.
• Electrical troubleshooting and repair skills for production equipment.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance on production machinery.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Anacortes, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $38.66/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
