Compliance Director

Compliance Director Required Location: Washington DC. All candidates must be in the Washington DC area. The role requires on‑site work 4 days per week, while allowing for virtual work to support productivity and work‑life balance. The Compliance Director serves as the compliance lead for the DC Medicaid plan and is a member of the senior leadership team, directing foundational and strategic compliance responsibilities to support the organization. Primary Duties Direct projects, initiatives, regulatory sanctions, executive‑sponsored initiatives, regulatory audits or exams, internal audits, accreditations, on‑site reviews, risk assessments; plan audits, conduct mock audits, provide audit training, manage audit evidence preparation, and assess audit preparedness. Lead compliance monitoring to identify process gaps, validate compliance levels, map processes, draft corrective actions/remediation plans, oversee implementation of corrective actions, and prepare reports and presentations. Lead complex investigations and document findings. Develop strategic plans, make recommendations to leadership, and design/implement the annual compliance plan. Build strong relationships with key leaders to identify and address compliance risks and failures and manage action plans designed to fully mitigate risk(s). Serve as a key point of contact with government agencies, including representing the plan at various meetings and managing regulator requests. Requirements BA/BS and minimum of 8 years of healthcare, regulatory, ethics, compliance, or privacy experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences Strong leadership/managerial skills and ability to motivate/coach staff. MS/MBA/JD or professional designation. Privacy and/or security certification(s). Medicaid experience. Managed Care or comparative Healthcare Experience. For candidates working in person or virtually in the above locations, the salary range for this specific position is $126,900–$190,440.
