Occupational Therapist (OT) - Inpatient Rehab

Overview The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients of all ages. Serves as a role model in the delivery of professional services and as a clinical resource for staff and students. The schedule for this role is Saturday and Sunday, 8a-4:30p. Allowed to request off 2 weekends per rotation (17‑18 weekends in each schedule rotation). Additional weekday PRN coverage would be appreciated. M‑F onboarding availability ideal for consistency and training purposes. Qualifications Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy Licenses/Certifications: Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA) Required training: Attend and satisfactorily complete all required continuing education regarding the care of acute stroke patients. Annual education: Complete assigned education to comply with DNV Hip and Knee Replacement Program requirements (if applicable). Responsibilities Demonstrates ability to perform patient transfers with assistance as needed from bed, chair, and floor, and practices safe body mechanics to reduce injury risk. Designs an appropriate plan of care that integrates goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge plan, adjusting care based on patient response and evidence. Educates patients, family, caregivers, students, and other health care providers using relevant and effective teaching methods. Evaluates clinical findings to determine physical therapy diagnoses and outcomes of care. Performs examination, selecting reliable and valid examination methods relevant to the chief complaint, screening results, and history. Screens patients using procedures to determine the effectiveness of and need for therapy services. Uses support personnel according to legal standards and ethical guidelines, monitors their care, and provides regular feedback. Documents evaluations and plans of care according to department policy, including goals, modifications of treatment plans, and patients’ response to treatments. Completes annual education as assigned to comply with DNV Hip and Knee Replacement Program requirements (if applicable). Evaluates and implements intervention plans utilizing functional activities that consider the functional and emotional needs of the patient/family, modifying the approach in response to behavior and performance. Utilizes standardized outcome measures uniformly to ensure accurate reflection of functional performance. Completes documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards. Collaborates with patient, family, and significant others throughout the rehabilitation process and provides education/family training as necessary. Provides supervision to COTA and rehabilitation technicians in accordance with regulatory agencies. Communicates patient performance, changes in status, activity/transfer recommendations, and discharge disposition and equipment needs to the medical team. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $34.66per hour – $59.62per hour. This represents a good‑faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on factors including experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
