Position Summary

Heart South is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our Imaging Services team. This role serves as a direct patient caregiver, performing diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures while ensuring high-quality imaging, patient safety, and exceptional care.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, patient-focused, and committed to maintaining the highest standards in imaging and radiation safety.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures, including:
- Nuclear Medicine studies
- SPECT and SPECT CT imaging
- PET imaging (as assigned)
- Cardiac stress laboratory functions, as required
Prepare, calculate, and administer radiopharmaceutical doses in accordance with regulations
Process, enhance, and document images for physician interpretation
Operate and maintain nuclear medicine and imaging equipment
Perform quality control and safety checks on all nuclear medicine instrumentation
Perform venipuncture and evaluate IV access for medication and radiopharmaceutical administration
Maintain accurate records in compliance with radiation safety and regulatory requirements
Participate in the ALARA Radiation Safety Program
Educate patients and families regarding procedures being performed
Ensure patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times
Maintain compliance with Baptist Health policies, departmental guidelines, and education requirements

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Graduate of an approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program
Experience not required, but must have working knowledge of:
- Nuclear medicine procedures
- Equipment operation
- Radiation safety principles

Licensure & Certifications

Must meet one of the following:

Current Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) certification through NMTCB
Current ARRT (N) certification in Nuclear Medicine

Additionally required:

Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification
