Paralegal Position at Hale Trailer Brake & Wheel, Inc

Hale Trailer Brake & Wheel, Inc is one of the largest independent, full service semi-trailer sales, service and leasing companies in the US. We have an immediate opening for a Paralegal at our Corporate Headquarters in West Berlin, NJ.

This high-profile position provides administrative and paralegal support and will be responsible for a wide range of tasks involving the financial, administrative, and legal areas of the Company. This position deals with a diverse group of internal contacts at all levels of the organization as well as senior level executives outside the Company. Must have ability and desire to understand operational aspects of the Company and the semi-trailer industry including its products and services.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, monitor, maintain, and renew a high volume of critical business licenses, permits, and corporate registrations across multiple state, county, and municipal districts.
• Partner with internal legal, finance, tax, and operations teams to gather required disclosures, financial data, or fingerprints for background checks required by licensing authorities.
• Evaluate incoming commercial agreements, vendors contracts, and NDAs against established risk tolerance thresholds.
• Ensure all reviewed contracts comply with internal corporate policies regarding liability limits, indemnification, and payment terms.
• Partner with Human Resources, and branch management to investigate workplace accidents and monitor corporate workers' compensation portfolios from initial incident report through final resolution or settlement.
• Assist the General Counsel in routing complex litigation, workers' compensation cases, and specialized contracts to outside counsel.
• Monitor case milestones, track outside counsel performance, and ensure adherence to corporate guidelines, and issue, track, and manage litigation holds to preserve relevant electronically stored information (ESI).
• Serve as central point of contact for external law firms to compile information for interrogatories, document requests, and admission responses.
• Create and distribute general correspondence, letters, and handle incoming/outgoing mail, etc.
• Work on special projects as required.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 8-12 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced environment; prior in-house experience a strong plus.
• Experience and knowledge in civil litigation, business contracts and agreements, human resources, and other general corporate matters would be a strong plus.
• Must have ability to draft correspondence, documents and presentations and proof work to ascertain communication is clear and error free.
• Must be able to manage confidential information and issues effectively and discreetly.
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be a team player.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook, is imperative.
• Must pass a standard pre-employment drug test.
