Laboratory Technician / Medical Assistant - Phlebotomy & Laboratory

Location: Brewster, WA (On-Site)
Assignment: 15-Week Contract
Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours/Week
Shift: 4×10 Day Shifts | Monday-Thursday | 8:00 AM-7:30 PM
Weekends/Holidays: No weekend or holiday rotation required
EMR / Information System: CPSI / Evident

Job Summary

Three Rivers Hospital is seeking an experienced and state-certified Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist (MA-P) to support laboratory operations and specimen collection. This contract position combines hands-on phlebotomy and specimen procurement with laboratory assistant responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will have experience collecting and processing specimens across a broad patient population and performing routine laboratory testing in a hospital or high-volume clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws across all patient age groups, from infants to geriatric patients.
• Collect, label, process, and transport blood and other biological specimens according to established procedures.
• Assist with laboratory workflows involving blood, urine, cell cultures, and other human biological specimens .
• Set up, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instrumentation as required.
• Operate automated laboratory analyzers and testing equipment in areas such as:
  • Chemistry
  • Hematology
  • Coagulation
  • Urinalysis
• Prepare and process laboratory specimens and diagnostic slides.
• Enter, document, and transmit laboratory results accurately using the CPSI / Evident information system.
• Follow established laboratory procedures, quality control standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure specimen integrity throughout the testing process.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Current, active Washington State MA-P (Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist) license required at the time of submission.
• Valid and active Phlebotomy certification/license/credential required.
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in an inpatient hospital laboratory or high-volume clinical laboratory environment.
• Strong experience with venipuncture and capillary specimen collection .
• Experience working with patients across multiple age groups preferred.
• Experience with automated laboratory analyzers and routine laboratory testing.
• Familiarity with CPSI / Evident preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, specimen handling, documentation, and quality assurance.
