Job Description Shifts Available: Nights Contingent- 24 hours per month Henry Ford Staffing Department Overview: (formerly BestChoice/MISS) Henry Ford Staffing is a system-wide, flexible staffing solution that supports clinical operations across Henry Ford Health by connecting skilled healthcare professionals to areas where they are needed most. While rooted in nursing, the department also provides staffing support for Surgical Technologists, Emergency Room Technicians, Medical Assistants, and Patient Care Technicians, making it a vital partner in delivering high-quality patient care across the system. This role requires the ability to rapidly assess and adapt to multiple units and patient care environments while maintaining exceptional standards of care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide direct patient care across units, utilizing clinical knowledge to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans Perform comprehensive patient assessments and identify potential complications or changes in patient condition before significant clinical deterioration occurs Execute a wide range of professional nursing interventions including medication administration, wound care, patient education, and post-operative care Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care Demonstrate flexibility and clinical judgment by rapidly orienting to different units, patient populations, and care protocols within the float pool environment Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards Collaborate with nursing leadership and clinical staff to support quality improvement initiatives and maintain safe patient care standards Work assigned day and night shifts as scheduled to meet organizational staffing needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing Bachelor's degree in Nursing (preferred) 3 years of recent related clinical nursing experience in an ICUsettings Demonstrated level of performance in direct patient care Willingness to float to multiple locations and adapt to diverse clinical environments

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing Bachelor's degree in Nursing (preferred) 3 years of recent related clinical nursing experience in an ICUsettings Demonstrated level of performance in direct patient care Willingness to float to multiple locations and adapt to diverse clinical environments

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Current TB screening and required vaccinations (e.g., flu)

CLINICAL KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Advanced clinical expertise in managing complex nursing problems across diverse patient populations Strong analytical abilities to formulate effective, individualized nursing care plans Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and identify potential complications Proficiency in a wide variety of professional nursing interventions (medication administration, wound care, patient education, post-operative care) Ability to identify patient problems prior to explicit changes in patient-specific data collection (vital signs, clinical indicators) Clinical judgment and flexibility to rapidly orient to different units and care protocols
