Location and hours: This is a full-time or part-time position located at NorthPoint Health and Wellness Center, 2220 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55411. Clinic hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. (work hours will vary). New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire.

About this position type: This is a full-time or part-time, benefit earning position. This position is internally classified as a Dental Hygienist.

In this position, you will:

• Perform complete prophylaxis including scaling, root planning, soft tissue curettage, and polishing of fillings.
• Perform preliminary examination including securing case history, performing periodontal probing, and recording clinical findings.
• Advise patients on proper diet and dental care.
• Chart patient treatments.
• Counsel patient and family on dental care and treatments.

Need to have:

• Associate's degree in a dental hygiene program approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
• Possession of a valid license as a dental hygienist issued by the Minnesota Board of Dentistry.

Nice to have:

• Certification to administer anesthetics and nitrous oxide.
• Experience: as a dental hygienist, including applying sealants.
• Using Electronic Dental Record and Digital Radiography (DXone).
• Working within a community-based environment.
• Knowledge and ability to perform dental techniques and procedures, preliminary examination procedures, instructional techniques, and oral hygiene techniques.
• Ability to: chart patient treatments and progress, clean and maintain dental equipment and instruments, work effectively in a team environment, respect and appreciate diverse co-workers and customers.

Candidates with fluency in Spanish, Hmong and Somali in addition to English are encouraged to apply. Bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties.
