Entry Level Geologist

TERRADON Corporation is seeking to hire a full‑time, entry level Geologist for projects primarily located in West Virginia and neighboring states. This position will be based out of our headquarters office location in Poca, WV. Working within TERRADON’s Geotechnical Department, you will have the opportunity to grow your career as part of a team of technical experts working on challenging projects including transportation, environmental, and infrastructure for our public and private sector clients. This position is 75% – 100% field work, with occasional in‑office support between field assignments. Occasional out‑of‑town travel to sites in adjacent states should be expected. Typical Tasks Overseeing subsurface investigations, subsurface soil and rock collection, monitoring well installation, and installation of geotechnical instrumentation Assisting with subsurface investigation planning and implementation Developing boring logs and geologic cross sections Assigning and performing geotechnical lab testing of soil and rock samples Assisting with the preparation of work plans, reports, and contract documents Providing oversight services during construction on projects involving earth work, deep and shallow foundations, support of excavations, instrumentation and monitoring, ground improvement, and pipelines Assisting with the preparation of scope, schedules, and budgets for proposals Overseeing subcontractors on field assignments Working as an integrated member of a multi‑disciplined team on complex projects Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or related discipline Knowledge of basic geologic principles and West Virginia stratigraphy Experience: 0-5 years Willingness to travel (The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.) Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history Knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.) Good verbal and written communications skills Basic knowledge of scientific methods and processes Preferred Additional Qualifications Experience in subsurface explorations and laboratory testing Working knowledge of AutoCAD Working knowledge of Bentley’s gINT TERRADON is an equal opportunity employer headquartered in Poca, WV with offices in Fayetteville and Lewisburg, WV, Washington, PA and Salem, VA.
