Our client in Cedar Rapids, IA is looking for a Shipping Associate!

Position Summary: This position is heavily focused on outbound shipping, with only occasional receiving responsibilities. The Shipping Associate will spend most of the day processing orders, entering shipment information, picking parts, preparing packages, and creating accurate shipping documentation. Vontas provides intelligent transportation technology used by public transit systems, so shipments may include specialized technology components and equipment. The ideal candidate enjoys working with numbers, computers, part numbers, and detailed processes. Accuracy is extremely important, as every item, quantity, serial number, label, address, and shipping method must be correct.


Key Responsibilities:

• Process a high volume of outbound shipments using UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS, and LTL freight systems
• Enter shipping requests and order information into carrier software and ERP systems
• Review sales orders and pick the correct technology components and parts
• Match part numbers, serial numbers, quantities, and shipping instructions
• Accurately enter package weights, dimensions, addresses, service levels, and account information
• Compare shipping options and select the appropriate carrier and service
• Package sensitive technology components securely to prevent damage
• Create shipping labels, packing slips, bills of lading, and other required documents
• Stage completed orders for carrier pickup
• Track shipments and research delays, missing packages, or delivery discrepancies
• Maintain accurate electronic and physical shipping records
• Communicate with internal teams regarding order status or shipment concerns
• Occasionally assist with receiving, stocking, and basic inventory movement
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shipping area

Qualifications:

• Previous shipping or order fulfillment experience strongly preferred
• Experience using multiple carriers, such as UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS, or LTL freight providers
• Strong computer skills and confidence working in several programs throughout the day
• Experience with UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, ERP software, inventory systems, or similar programs preferred
• Comfortable working with part numbers, serial numbers, measurements, weights, quantities, and shipping rates
• Exceptional attention to detail and data-entry accuracy
• Ability to understand sales orders, packing slips, shipping labels, and bills of lading
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to research discrepancies and determine why information does not match
• Comfortable learning technical products, unfamiliar part numbers, and new software
• Ability to manage multiple orders and priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime when needed
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance as needed
• Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift

Hours:

• Monday - Friday
• 7am - 4:30pm

Pay:

• $18-19/hour
