Phlebotomist

Location: Overland Park, KS | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, contract; Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm, Saturday 8am to Noon on a rotating basis (approximately one Saturday per month) | Compensation: Benefits are available Overview A healthcare services provider is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract position projected to last approximately 3 months. This float role supports multiple patient service centers (PSCs) across Kansas and Missouri, playing a key part in ensuring accurate specimen collection and smooth lab operations across sites. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy Package specimens for transport, storing samples at required temperatures and following protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Float to patient service centers in Kansas and Missouri as needed Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states Minimum of 2 years of experience; 2+ years of experience required Pediatric and geriatric experience Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Clean driving record and reliable transportation Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Mileage expense paid for float travel between locations Why this role This position offers a defined 3-month contract with benefits available and paid mileage for travel between patient service centers in Kansas and Missouri. #J-18808-Ljbffr
