About the Role:

The General Laborer plays a crucial role in supporting various operational and construction activities across diverse work sites. This position involves performing physically demanding tasks that contribute to the efficient progress and completion of projects. The General Laborer ensures that materials, tools, and equipment are properly handled, maintained, and organized to facilitate smooth workflow. Safety and adherence to established protocols are paramount, as the role often involves working in dynamic environments with potential hazards. Ultimately, the General Laborer helps maintain productivity and quality standards by providing essential hands-on assistance to skilled tradespeople and supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.
• Basic understanding of workplace safety standards and willingness to follow safety protocols.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in construction, manufacturing, or related labor-intensive industries.
• Familiarity with basic hand and power tools.
• Certification in OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour safety training.
• Ability to read and understand simple instructions, safety rules, and work orders.
• Basic first aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with loading and unloading materials, tools, and equipment at job sites.
• Prepare and clean work areas by removing debris, hazardous materials, and waste.
• Support skilled workers such as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers by providing necessary tools and materials.
• Operate basic machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently as directed.
• Follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Perform manual tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying, and assembling components.
• Maintain equipment and tools by performing routine cleaning and minor repairs.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure project requirements are met.

Skills:

The General Laborer utilizes physical stamina and strength daily to perform tasks such as lifting, carrying, and operating tools, ensuring that work progresses efficiently. Attention to safety skills is critical, as the role requires constant awareness of potential hazards and adherence to safety protocols to prevent accidents. Communication skills are employed to coordinate with team members and supervisors, ensuring clarity in task execution and problem-solving.
