Essential Functions Instruct students in subject matter, using various teaching methods, such as lecture and demonstration, manipulative, problem‑solving, and audiovisual aids to supplement the activity for which students are engaged. Prepare teaching materials and online course content; assign lessons; correct homework papers. Administer tests to evaluate progress, compile anecdotal records, record results, and issue reports to inform parents of students’ progress on a regular basis. Counsel students when adjustment and academic problems arise. Discuss students’ academic and behavior problems with parents and suggest corrective action. Keep attendance and grade records as required by administration. Observe students to detect signs of ill health or emotional disturbance and evaluate progress. Report to the principal when a child’s health or welfare has been harmed or appears to have been harmed as a result of abuse or neglect. Maintain discipline in the classroom and on school property. Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops. Encourage students to maintain standards of classroom behavior. Prepare for class daily and show evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor. Remain available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, board policies, and administrative regulations. Develop and maintain a classroom conducive to learning. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Represent the school and the community in a positive manner. Actively promote the use of computer/technology to develop learning skills. Perform other work‑related duties as assigned by administration. Qualifications Valid teacher’s license with appropriate endorsement. Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates computer utilization skills. Physical Demands This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 25 lbs., with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Other physical demands may include stooping and/or kneeling, reaching, talking, hearing, and seeing. Temperament Adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Adaptability to accepting responsibility for the direction, control, or planning of an activity. Adaptability to dealing with people beyond giving and receiving instruction.
