Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in the Labor & Delivery unit cares for pregnant patients presenting with various risk factors or complications, including high-risk situations. The unit includes 10 labor and delivery beds, OB triage beds, antepartum rooms, and postpartum care. Nurses may work with newborns from Level I to lower acuity Level II nursery babies.

Responsibilities:

• Manage high acuity labor patients, including those with preeclampsia and preterm labor.
• Provide care for antepartum, postpartum, and newborn nursery patients.
• Perform clinical skills such as IV starts, cervical checks, and blood administration.
• Participate in C-section procedures and recovery care.
• Work variable shifts, including night and day rotations, with weekend and holiday shifts as needed.

Requirements:

• Current Registered Nurse license with the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.
• Experience with EPIC charting and competency in managing high acuity labor patients.
• Comfortable providing Level I normal newborn nursery care and preferable experience with Level II care.
• Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing.
