Job Title Enterprise Data & AI Architect Department Information Technology Reports To CITO FLSA Status Exempt Company Overview Bay Cities Container is an Employee Owned (ESOP) corrugated packaging and display manufacturer in Southern California. The company is undergoing a CEO-sponsored digital transformation to build an enterprise intelligence platform. Role Summary Enterprise Data & AI Architect responsible for owning and extending the data intelligence and AI automation platform. Reports to the CIO and leads a small BI/analytics team. Key Responsibilities Own and extend a SQL Server analytics data warehouse and construct dimensional models. Design and maintain data pipelines from legacy ERP, logistics, and workflow systems to Microsoft Fabric. Manage complex temporal data, schema governance, documentation, and data lineage. Build and maintain Power BI semantic models on Microsoft Fabric; develop DAX measure libraries. Deliver executive dashboards (P&L, Balance Sheet, Flash Reports, cost analysis, operational metrics) and ensure data quality. Design and orchestrate AI agent workflows for business process automation and analytics. Build workflow automations for data pipelines, alerting, and system integration. Manage prompt engineering, AI governance, and safety boundaries for production AI systems. Work with legacy ERP cost models; build margin analysis, vendor spend tracking, and cost-per-unit modeling. Translate executive requirements into data products and manage a portfolio of concurrent analytics projects. Lead and mentor a BI/Analytics team, distribute work, and build team capability. Ensure IT governance: secrets management, access controls, and security practices. Qualifications Required 5+ years SQL Server/T‑SQL in complex analytical queries, views, stored procedures, dimensional modeling. 3+ years Power BI/DAX semantic model development and production deployment. Experience with Microsoft Fabric or equivalent cloud analytics platforms (Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake). Data warehouse design: star schemas, ETL/ELT patterns, slowly‑changing dimensions. Python for data transformation and scripting; data science libraries (pandas, scikit‑learn) a plus. Git version control with collaborative development workflows. API integration: REST APIs, authentication flows, webhook patterns. Strongly Preferred AI/LLM experience with Claude, OpenAI, or similar; prompt engineering and agent orchestration. Workflow automation platforms (n8n, Azure Logic Apps, Power Automate, Zapier, Make). Manufacturing or industrial ERP background. Financial reporting concepts (GL structure, P&L, Balance Sheet, cost accounting). PowerShell infrastructure scripting in Windows/Azure. Azure AD/Identity Management: service accounts, credential lifecycle, gateway authentication. Nice to Have Packaging, printing, or discrete manufacturing experience. Change Management awareness. Vector database experience (Chroma, Pinecone, Weaviate). Data Vault 2.0 methodology. What You Don’t Need to Know Specific ERP system structure – well‑documented and AI‑assisted tooling will be provided. Corrugated packaging manufacturing process – discoverable through platform knowledge. Specific AI agent framework – must learn fundamentals of LLMs, prompt engineering. History of company’s transformation – focus on future objectives. Success Metrics First 30 days: Own existing production models, engage stakeholders, assess security posture. First 90 days: Deliver 2–3 measurable projects, reduce single‑person dependencies, implement secrets management. First 6 months: Team delivers analytics projects independently, documented pipeline architecture, maintainable AI automation framework, and predictable delivery cycles.
