The Assistant Preschool Teacher plays a vital role in supporting the lead teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for young children. This position involves assisting with classroom activities, supervising children during various times including meals and naps, and helping implement the Frogstreet curriculum. The assistant works closely with both students and parents to foster positive development and maintain classroom organization and safety, typically supporting a ratio of one assistant to ten students.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teacher in classroom instruction and lesson delivery
• Provide supervision during classroom activities, meals, and nap times
• Prepare materials and set up activities to support learning goals
• Monitor children's behavior and promote positive interactions
• Maintain clear communication with parents regarding student progress and needs
• Organize and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment
• Enforce safety standards to ensure child well-being at all times

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in early childhood education
• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in childcare settings
• Strong communication skills
• Patience and empathy with young children
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team
• First Aid certification
• Keen observation skills to monitor child development

We are a nonprofit childcare center. We are open Monday-Friday from 7:00am-5:30pm. We are NAC Accredited and TRS 4.
