Success is recognized and celebrated, and legendary experiences are the core of who we are.Day to Day Job DutiesPersonal Training Supervisor (Recreation Specialist I) duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate personal trainers & programsProvide ongoing coaching and constructive feedbackAssess personal training program effectiveness, analyze and report data on an ongoing basisContinually research fitness industry trends and propose program changes to meet the demographic needs of the communityCollaboratively build a comprehensive fitness & wellness program including personal training, small group training, outdoor programming, wellness programming, and other related activitiesDesign, create and maintain part time personal training schedulesTrack part time personal trainer hours to ensure staff are not working over the allotted number of budgeted hoursReport as required on performanceMaintain trainer certification records and provide/recommend opportunities for professional growthPhysical ability to facilitate personal training and lead small group training, fitness assessments and fitness consultations for twenty to twenty-seven hours per weekTrain patrons/groups utilizing a variety of techniques and modalities serving diverse age groups and fitness levelsMeet or exceed annual revenue and performance goalsEnforce policy, procedures and standards for personal training program including safety, customer service and staff accountabilityA personal commitment to health, fitness and wellness with an outward facing professional appearanceAddress patron comments, concerns, behaviors and conduct as necessary with friendly customer service ongoing marketing strategiesMaintain detailed participation reports, client satisfaction and retention and all other statistical records for programs and services offeredRecommend purchases for personal training program in compliance with City procurement processes and accurately track allocated expendituresActively promote all fitness and wellness programs and services to maximize patron engagement and retentionPerform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.Requires a current and valid Driver's licenseIdeal CandidateIn addition to the minimum requirements, the ideal candidate for this position will also have the experience listed below. Candidates should ensure the information is provided in the application.Must possess a current national level Personal Training Certification(s) from ACE, NASM or comparable - Certification must be recognized by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)1 year of direct supervision of full time or part time employees to include hiring and trainingExperience as a Personal Training Manager, Supervisor or Program Director6 months of experience developing fitness programs and training clients and/or groups of varying fitness levels1 year of experience with meeting projected revenue goals and tracking expendituresThis position is being advertised as a pool, and applications could be used to fill current vacancies and any other similar Recreation Specialist I position that become available within six months from the closing date of this posting.ScheduleWork schedules could include early morning, evening, mid-day, weekends, holidays, or split shifts. Work location may change based on operational and programming needs.The individual selected for this position will be housed at a primary site but may be scheduled between other park sites/facilities. Schedules will be adjusted seasonally and will vary weekly based on events, facility coverage, and weather. All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours, overtime, splits shifts or maybe be relocated to another location or job assignment in response to short- term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies including weekends, evenings and holidays.As a condition of employment, all employees must attend P&R Connection (Department Orientation). If selected for the position, you will be provided an approximate training date at the time of hire. Training is held from 8:30am-5:00pm, every other Friday, at the Parks & Recreation Administration Building. May be required to have a current and valid driver's license. May require a Commercial driver's license. Special Requirements: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Must be available to work varied hours, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime when required to meet operational needs. This position may require incumbents to wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to, steel-toed shoes, hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, or other safety attire and equipment in designated areas of risk. Specific requirements will be determined and communicated by the employee's supervisor based on position assigned.
