Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for an outpatient clinic role requiring surgical oncology experience and a CT or compact RN license. Details Outpatient Oncology Clinic setting within a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center Patient population includes Breast Oncology, Breast Surgery, and Plastic Surgery patients Duties include telephone triage, in-basket management, assisting providers during clinic visits, and new/return patient visits Provides pre-op and post-op teaching and post-surgical care Day shift schedule, 4x10-hour shifts from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM Uses Epic charting system Requirements Active RN license (CT or Compact) required Current BLS certification required Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience required (1.5 years considered for candidates with Level I trauma or travel experience) Prior surgical experience required Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) and OCN certification preferred Experience with biotherapy, immunotherapy, and cytotoxic therapy preferred Skilled in recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, spinal cord compression) preferred Experience with psychosocial care including advanced directives, hospice care, and patient/family education preferred Symptom management experience (skin/mucous membrane alterations, altered mental status, GI symptoms, edema, neuropathy) preferred Familiarity with oncology medications including antiemetics, antitumor agents, corticosteroids, and hormonal therapy preferred Experience caring for patients with a wide range of cancers (breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, lymphoma, and others) preferred Skilled in care coordination, neutropenic precautions, telephone triage, and wound care preferred One professional reference required for consideration Additional Information Works within a large academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted COVID vaccine and booster required with only religious or medical exemptions accepted Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from the facility Returning staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a trav37eler RTO requests of up to 7 days can be auto-approved Any vacation plans between offer acceptance and start date should be disclosed early to help set a realistic start date First-time travelers are welcome to apply if experience requirements are met These details are based on information provided by the facility and may include inaccuracies or be subject to updates.
