Driller

The Driller is responsible for ensuring proper training, safe work practices of the crew, and safe operation of the drilling rig. Drillers also operate and monitor the essential systems of the drilling rig including hoisting, well control, mud and power systems. Safety is the first priority for all drilling rig personnel. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate and maintain drilling fluid systems and pumps during drilling Ensure safety and support equipment is functioning properly Monitor drilling progress and communicate advancements/changes to Rig Manager Maintain an up to date record of drilling progress Train new crew members Ensure usage of proper safety equipment Ability to comply with company guidelines and work in a safe manner Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to work safely and plan ahead Ability to work in a team setting Good organizational skills Mechanical aptitude Ability to judge distance and spatial relationships Certifications and Licenses IADC Well Control – Drilling Surface Supervisor Aerial Work Platform Fall Protection First Aid Respirator Fit Test Wheel Loader Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Special Conditions of Employment Must be able to complete a drug and alcohol test and obtain a negative result. Must be able to complete and successfully pass a physical demands analysis test. Extreme weather conditions such as rain, heat/cold, and exposure to loud noises.
