About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 7a-7p Experience: Minimum 2 years in Stepdown in an acute care setting License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips Description: Strict 75-mile radius rule applies. Must provide a copy of the driver's license with submission. Experience in Stepdown in an acute care setting is required without exception. Nurse-patient ratios are 1 to 5. Unit has 44 beds with 8 semi-private rooms. Common diagnoses include cardiovascular surgical procedures and heart failure patients. Nurses should be able to pull pacer wires; orientation will be provided if necessary. There is a fast turnover of rooms, with an average census of 32-38 patients. Discharge and admission of 12-16 patients on busy days. Flexibility is required to work holidays and around holiday schedules. Floating to ICU may be required, but only stepdown patients will be taken unless ICU experience is noted. Natural-colored hair is required, along with no fake nails or shellac on nails. No facial piercings or visible tattoos are allowed. Telemetry experience is necessary, particularly with specific drips such as Cardizem and amiodarone. BiPap and CPAP experience is needed for ventilatory support. Hospitalist or intensivist will be in-house 24/7, along with pharmacy support. Additional requirements include strong attendance and the ability to adapt to floating assignments.
