Manufacturing Engineer II

In this role, you will partner closely with Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain, and our manufacturing partners to develop, validate, and optimize manufacturing processes that deliver high-quality products efficiently and at scale. You will combine strong technical fundamentals with a hands-on approach to solving manufacturing challenges, improving processes, and ensuring manufacturing readiness throughout the product development lifecycle.RESPONSIBILITIES:Drive manufacturing technical readiness for new product introductions through process development and optimization, manufacturing documentation, process validation, and fixture qualificationPartner with factory teams and cross-functional engineering partners to design, develop, and qualify manufacturing fixtures, equipment, and processes, using data-driven approaches to identify opportunities for effective automationDevelop and validate manufacturing processes that meet product specifications, establishing appropriate process controls to ensure consistent quality, efficiency, and reliabilityApply DFX and Lean Six Sigma principles to improve product manufacturability, quality, cycle time, efficiency, and cost throughout development and productionLead structured problem-solving efforts, including DOEs, failure analysis, DMAIC, and 8D methodologies, to identify root causes of manufacturing issues and implement effective corrective actionsDrive cross-functional execution through rapid development and production ramp cycles, clearly communicating manufacturing risks, development progress, issue resolution, and project status to internal and external partnersWillingness to travel up to 25% of the timeQUALIFICATIONS:Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience3+ years of manufacturing engineering or related experience supporting moderate- to high-volume production environmentsHands-on experience developing, qualifying, and troubleshooting manufacturing processes on the factory floorExperience with manufacturing processes for small electronic products, such as adhesives, heat staking, automated assembly, or manual assemblyWorking knowledge of injection-molded plastic part principles, common defect modes, process qualification, and GD&T principlesExperience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks and applying sound engineering principles to fixture or manufacturing equipment designStrong organizational, project management, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines and with external manufacturing partners in CM/JDM environments; willingness to travel up to 25% as neededStrong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions.This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training.In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will also receive benefits and a generous equity package.These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs. While most offers will typically fall toward the starting point of the range, total compensation will depend on the candidate’s specific qualifications, expertise, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
