This is made possible by employing and retaining world-class subject matter experts and personnel equally committed to our mission. To support our workforce, ABSI offers highly competitive salaries, flexible work schedules, excellent benefits, immediate 401(k) vesting, and a full cafeteria plan that employees can tailor to their individual needs. Benefit eligibility varies based on employment classification and applicable plan requirements.

ABSI is recruiting experienced Episodic Combat Marksmanship Instructors to support the Marine Raider Training Center (MRTC), Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC).

Instructors will augment the Government’s SOF Fundamentals instructor cadre, providing instruction and supervision in all aspects of combat marksmanship within the MARSOC SOF Fundamentals Course. This training prepares Marines to support Special Operations missions as members of Marine Support Groups.

This is an intermittent position supporting scheduled course iterations. The anticipated requirement is up to 300 hours per instructor annually, generally distributed across six course iterations of approximately 50 hours per instructor per course. Actual assignments and hours depend on Government training requirements and authorized tasking; hours are not guaranteed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom instruction, demonstrations, and practical live-fire range instruction in combat marksmanship in accordance with approved Programs of Instruction and applicable references.
  • Instruct and supervise combat marksmanship training within the MARSOC SOF Fundamentals Course.
  • Reinforce safe weapons handling, combat marksmanship techniques, and compliance with established training objectives.
  • Apply applicable Marine Corps Orders, unit standard operating procedures (SOPs), and range safety requirements throughout training.
  • Apply Deliberate and Time-Critical Risk Management to identify hazards, implement controls, and support safe training execution.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance, provide instructional feedback, and support required student evaluations and training records.
  • Assist with lesson preparation and development of instructional materials as assigned.
  • Support range preparation, training equipment setup, and post-training recovery and accountability activities.
  • Coordinate with Government instructors and other contractor personnel to maintain instructional continuity, consistency, and quality.
  • Contribute to course feedback, logistical resource summaries, and After Action Reports, including recommendations to improve training effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Maintain proficiency in current MARSOC combat marksmanship tactics, techniques, and procedures and remain current in the qualifications required to perform assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least eight years of military experience, including at least five years within Special Operations and/or a United States Marine Corps (USMC) Reconnaissance organization.
  • Graduate of a Service Special Operations Close Quarters Battle (CQB) course.
  • Instructor experience at a Special Operations CQB course.
  • Proficiency in current CQB tactics, techniques, and procedures, reflecting practices used within the past three years.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in combat marksmanship techniques.
  • Proficiency in classroom and range instructional methods.
  • Proficiency in applying Marine Corps Orders and unit SOPs governing range safety.
  • Proficiency in applying Deliberate and Time-Critical Risk Management.
  • Ability to pass current MARSOC weapons qualifications.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Active Secret security clearance at the start of contract performance and the ability to maintain that clearance throughout employment.
  • Ability to perform the essential physical duties of the position, including carrying 50 pounds and wearing organizational personal protective equipment for extended periods throughout training days, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to satisfy contract-required drug-screening, firearms eligibility, and fitness-for-duty requirements.
  • Availability to support scheduled course iterations and the extended hours required for assigned training events.

All required qualifications must be satisfied before beginning contract performance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience instructing Marine Raiders, Special Operations support personnel, or other United States Special Operations Command personnel.
  • Experience supporting MARSOC SOF Fundamentals or comparable military combat marksmanship training.
  • Experience evaluating student performance and supporting standardized military instruction.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation within the posted range will be determined based on relevant military and Special Operations experience, instructor qualifications, and demonstrated ability to perform the position’s responsibilities.

Benefits, if applicable, are governed by ABSI eligibility requirements, employment classification, and applicable plan terms. Employment and individual training assignments are contingent upon contract award, Government requirements, authorized tasking, and verification of qualifications and security eligibility.
