Job Overview

As a Shop Technician at Komatsu in Mesa, AZ, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of heavy machinery components through timely, precise repairs conducted within our well-equipped workshop environment. Your expertise will directly influence our operational success by achieving high repair efficiency and minimizing rework, while strictly adhering to the rigorous quality and safety standards set forth by Komatsu.

The position requires a dedicated professional who consistently meets or exceeds repair timelines as defined by Komatsu job standards, demonstrating technical excellence on multiple competency dimensions, including technical knowledge, soft skills, and safety practices. Maintaining all balanced scorecard goals and delivering exceptional service within operational parameters is essential to this role.

This job initially begins at our shop at 926 S. 7th Street, Phoenix AZ 85034. This summer the job will will move to our brand new facility by the Mesa Gateway Airport.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Complete assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate times and re-do metric.
• Work safely and follow all KEC/Customer safety policies and procedures.
• Complete related paperwork and access databases require to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely.
• Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
• Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision.
• Ability to provide accurate quotes and pricing estimates to the customer.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs.
• Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
• Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis.

Qualifications/Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• Associate Degree in Diesel Technology or equivalent preferred
• 2+years related experience and/or training in the mining or construction equipment industry

Additional Information

OTHER INFORMATION:

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Certified to operate a forklift and/or manlift.
• May be required to complete a DOT physical.
• Required to complete MSHA certification.
• May be required to complete respirator certification.

Tooling

• Must have a basic set of mechanics tools that meet minimum requirements as defined on Komatsu Equipment Company technician tool list

• Abide by all Company policies and procedures

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
• Occasionally exposed to extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Hiring Range

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $$35 - $45. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
