District Support Pharmacist Part Time

Within our Retail locations, District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) cultivate a culture of excellence within each pharmacy by acting as a role model, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. Responsibilities Living our purpose by helping manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Traveling the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator; overseeing the pharmacy and acting as the Pharmacy Manager's proxy during bench shifts without overlap. Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and utilize safety guardrails at every workstation. Assuming Pharmacy Manager's day‑to‑day duties when serving as the sole or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty. Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the team to do the same, and proactively resolving insurance and medication issues. Offering and delivering immunizations, engaging Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize. Managing pharmacy inventory, guiding the team to follow best practices, especially protecting cold chain products. Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Maintaining relevant clinical and technical skills and seeking opportunities to expand knowledge. Providing pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible, empowering the team to provide holistic care. Understanding and complying with federal and state laws, professional standards, and CVS policies, including controlled substance dispensing, record‑keeping, privacy, and workplace safety. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Essential Functions Travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require. Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Complete required training within designated timeframe. Attention and Focus Concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly between tasks, and confirm prescription accuracy to ensure patient safety. Customer Service and Team Orientation Actively seek ways to help people in a friendly manner. Note patients’ reactions and respond appropriately. Communication Skills Use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues. Practice active listening and thoughtful questioning. Mathematical Reasoning Use math to solve problems such as determining tablet counts and prescription supplies. Problem Resolution Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action. Physical Demands Be mobile, lift, scan, and bag items, reach overhead, and perform repetitive finger tasks. Lift up to 20 lbs, frequently up to 10 lbs, and continually perform movements requiring precision. Communicate detailed instructions verbally and receive detailed information orally. Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
