Senior Field Technician - Construction Materials Testing

Senior Field Technician – Construction Materials Testing – Memphis, Tennessee Intertek is actively seeking a Senior Field Technician to join our Intertek‑PSI team in Memphis, Tennessee. This role offers a versatile career in the architectural, engineering and construction industry, performing field inspections and construction materials testing to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. Responsibilities Perform a variety of testing, project‑specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision or controlled procedures. Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (e.g., soil, concrete, or other materials) and provide assessment of data through reporting. Work utilizing drawings, specifications and diagrams. Use specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks. Make detailed observations and give limited interpretation of results. Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results. Operate a calculator to compute mathematical test results. Communicate effectively with clients and project teams. Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure personal safety and the safety of others. Minimum Requirements Five or more years of experience performing field construction materials testing. Effective communication skills (written, verbal, listening) and solid interpersonal skills. External (or task‑related) certifications based on region and state may be required. Basic math, calculator and computer skills. Ability to read and understand work plans. Must be able to work off‑shift and overtime as needed. Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record. Preferred Requirements High School Diploma or GED. ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I Certification. Additional industry certifications (ACI/ICC/TDOT) are highly preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, move, push and pull up to 50 pounds; occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication. Ability to kneel and squat occasionally. Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time. Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold). Ability to climb occasionally.
