Sustainability Technician

Gun Lake Casino

Position Summary The Sustainability Technician will report to the Sustainability Specialist to combat and work closely with the Gun Lake Casino Resort Team Members to develop and promote effective sustainability initiatives to reduce the properties’ impact on Grandmother Earth. Sustainability Technicians will be responsible for daily recycling, food waste recovery and other sustainability efforts put forth by Gun Lake Casino Resort. In this Role Must display a strong work ethic and be service-orientated. Must have experience operating hi‑low, forklift, skid‑steer, baler machines and trucks. Operate and maintain Gun Lake Casinos food waste digester(s). Loads and delivers food waste digester amendment to the Gun Lake Tribe Government Campus daily. Acts as point of contact and schedules vendor recycling pick‑ups. Maintains confidentiality of recycled materials from pick‑up point through the end of recycling process. Properly care for and handle recycling supplies, equipment and vehicles. Sorts materials such as, metals, glass, wood, paper or plastics for recycling. Must be able to work non‑traditional hours including working evenings, weekends, and holidays. Responsible for practicing, supporting and promoting Gun Lake Casino’s “Unsurpassed Service Standards” at all times. Maintain a high level of personal integrity on and off duty. Practice teamwork, support fellow Team Members and create an energized, positive team‑oriented work environment for all. Interact with Guests and vendors in a friendly and courteous manner and handle all Guest opportunities. Must have knowledge of SDS booklet location(s) for your area. Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members and Management in both written and verbal form. Maintain excellent grooming and uniform standards. All other duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications Must be at least 21+ years of age. High School Diploma or GED required. At least six (6) months’ experience in related field; or currently enrolled in a Sustainable Development program. Hi‑Low and Skid‑Steer certification completed upon ninety (90) days of hire. Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass a Motor Vehicle Record Check. Must manage time effectively with minimal supervision. Must demonstrate sound judgment and mature decision‑making. Must possess and demonstrate great attention to detail in order to maintain the unit’s appearance and operating standards. Physical Requirements Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color, and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols. Ability to read, write and input data into the computer. Ability to climb, bend, reach, walk, and stand for the duration of the shift. Manual dexterity to operate job‑related equipment. Must be capable of lifting 50lbs with or without assistance. Requires normal sense of smell, taste, touch, and hearing. Ability to come in contact with all types of food waste. Ability to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time. Work Conditions Work is typically in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, smelly and/or noisy and may contain second‑hand smoke. Work may be performed in small area with a 3 ft. wide access. Tasks performed from a sitting or non‑sitting position. Performance of job duties will require standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and grasping. These tasks include the maintenance and care of assigned area. Work may entail trained chemical usage. Constant contact with fellow Team Members and Guest.
