Lift Maintenance Mechanic

Lift Mechanics ensure the safety and reliability of our lifts by monitoring, maintaining and repairing lift equipment in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations. The Lift Maintenance Mechanic performs maintenance on aerial tramways, surface lifts, rope tows and conveyors. This position requires a competent mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting of various machinery and components, performing all tasks with a safety first attitude and demonstrates an ability to positively work as part of a team. Lift Maintenance Mechanic is a physically demanding position requiring long hours and working in inclement weather. This position is a key member of the Dodge Ridge team.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Understanding of the mechanical operation and theory of the tramways, tows, surface lifts, and conveyors
  • Daily inspections of all lift equipment
  • Daily, accurate and thorough documentation of lift maintenance records.
  • Understanding of the ANSI B-77
  • Knowledge of all repair manuals and maintenance information
  • An ability to troubleshoot and make repairs to tramways, tows, surface lifts and conveyors under difficult situations.
  • Use and care of radio equipment.
  • Maintain equipment, parts and supplies inventory and conserve resources by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipate equipment, parts and supplies and using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Meet service level objectives and department standards as set forth by immediate supervisor
  • Responsibilities to safety:
    • Use the appropriate safety equipment for the task being performed.
    • Recognize and correct any safety hazards within the lift maintenance department.
    • Safe operation of a snowmobile in a variety of terrain.
    • Understand and follow the Dodge Ridge Safety Plan.
    • Maintain a tremendous level of organization, professionalism and cleanliness in all work stations; adhering to and accountable for the proper care, storage and safety procedures regarding the use of tools and equipment
Job Qualifications
  • Be technically and mechanically minded, with strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to read and to write legibly and to use good composition skills to complete records and report form.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • The ability to work in a fast paced, task-oriented environment and maximize use of time
  • Must be able to work in an environment involving noise pollution, requiring the use of hearing protection.
  • Must be able to and comfortable working in confined spaces or on towers up to 70'
  • Mechanical training
  • Basic electrical knowledge
  • Reading and understanding all technical documents
  • Must be well groomed and present a good public image.
  • Good physical condition as this position requires hiking, shoveling, lifting and carrying. Physical ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Good manual and physical dexterity skills.
  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the Motor Vehicle Record qualifications as outlined in the Fleet Safety Program.

Work Schedules

Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge employees.

When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work 40 up to 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. During busy periods, you may be expected to work six (6) days a week.

You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy road surfaces.

Working Conditions

At any time during the ski season, Dodge Ridge employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.

Work is typically outside working with other resort staff members. It can be noisy, cold, wet, or humid. You may be expected to work in high places and frequently you will work around moving objects. At times you may be inside.

Uniforms

A professional appearance at Dodge Ridge is required. Please wear your name tag and uniform at all times during your scheduled shift. We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job. However, you will be required to provide some items as part of your job. The quality, color, and style of the items must be approved by your manager prior to being worn to work. All hats worn must have the Dodge Ridge logo while on shift.

  • Winter clothing
  • Headgear
  • Warm boots with vibram soles (Sorrels or equivalent). Dodge Ridge will provide ice cleats
  • Goggles
  • Gloves
  • Sunscreen
  • Ski or snowboarding equipment that meets Dodge Ridge's binding function test.

The skiing/riding employee represents a model for safe skiing for both the guest and fellow employees. You are required to be aware of all safe skiing procedures, trail closures, and out-of-bounds policies.
